LaVaughn Anderson Noblin, 82, formerly of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1994, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She had been a resident of the home since an illness in 1990.

She was the daughter of the late Noah Dee and Bertha Amne Anderson.

Noblin taught school in Oklahoma for 36 years. She taught in the Tulsa County schools and eventually held the position of curriculum coordinator. She taught in the primary, intermediate and secondary grades in English, home economics, history and business education.

She served as a reading clinician in the Tulsa Mabee Reading Clinic at the University of Tulsa, and later was administrative assistant to the Tulsa County superintendent of schools, audio-visual director, secretary and office supervisor.

She earned a bachelor's degree in English and education from John Brown University in Arkansas, a master's degree from the University of Tulsa. She also completed some doctoral work there.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Arrow, the Pilot Club of Broken Arrow, American Association of University Women, Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Kappa Iota, Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha Delta Kappa professional fraternities. She held a lifetime membership in the NEA, the Oklahoma Reading Association, International Reading Association and the Elementary Kindergarten Nursery Education Association. She was twice named to "Who's Who in American Education."

She was preceded in death by her brother and two younger siblings.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara N. Stribling of Cape Girardeau and a grandson, Thomas A. Stribling of Rosebud.

Visitation will be at the Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Methodist Church in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow in the Bell Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
