Laurine A. Dost, age 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She had been residing in the assisted living area of the Lutheran Home since April of 2002.
She was born July 23, 1920, in the Tilsit community, daughter of Martin L. and Alma M. Siebert Best. She and Erwin E. Dost were married Sept. 2, 1944, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Oct. 17, 2002.
Laurine was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, and Confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau where she had continued to be a member until her death. She was a member of the Junior Ladies Aid, was an active volunteer in the AAL for many years as Fraternal Leader. She was the award-winning cook when the LaClede Gas Co., held a baking contest in St. Louis. Laurine worked at the former Superior Electric Co., her entire career, retiring in the early 1980s.
Loving survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Olga and Harry Ruesler of Cape Girardeau; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Dost of Shawneetown, Helen Morrison of Oak Ridge; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Best, in 1967.
Friends may call Tuesday, Sept. 28, between 4 and 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and after 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
The Rev. Douglas Briete will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
