CHAFFEE, Mo. -- LaRue Walter Proffer, 94, of Chaffee died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Chaffee Nursing center.
He was born April 8, 1907, in Stoddard County, Mo., son of William Franklin and Olive Beth Williams Proffer. He and Dorothy Louise Lamb were married March 2, 1943. She died Feb. 12, 1990.
Proffer retired as a printer at the Chaffee Signal. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Advance, Mo., and the U.S. Army 140th Infantry Band.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two brothers, Clayton Proffer of Chaffee, and Bill Proffer of Riverside, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Union Park Cemetery.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
