SIKESTON -- LaRue "Tootie" Monan, 81, of Sikeston died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston. She was born Feb. 4, 1918, at Sikeston, daughter of William Thomas and Susie Elizabeth Knight Heath. She and Malcolm Henry Monan married Jan., 17, 1935, at Sikeston. He died Dec. 23, 1952...

SIKESTON -- LaRue "Tootie" Monan, 81, of Sikeston died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

She was born Feb. 4, 1918, at Sikeston, daughter of William Thomas and Susie Elizabeth Knight Heath. She and Malcolm Henry Monan married Jan., 17, 1935, at Sikeston. He died Dec. 23, 1952.

Monan retired as a practical nurse from the Missouri Delta Medical Center in 1980. She had attended the Trinity Chapel Church. Monan was a lifetime charter member and had served as a trustee of the Sikeston Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a recipient of the Mrs. Eagle of the Year Award.

She is survived by two daughters, Clara "Mickie" Jones of Sikeston, Joyce "Cissie" Poynor of Dongola, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Monan was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. John Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
