Larry Lee Young, 84, of Jackson passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, after a stay of only 11 days. Larry Lee Young, 84, of Jackson passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, after a stay of only 11 days.

He was born March 27, 1938, in Millersville to Zeddie and Mary Crafton Young. He and Saundra Kay Stearns were married Aug. 8, 1970, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Their union was blessed with a daughter and a granddaughter.

Larry worked as a custodian at Lee Rowan/Newell Rubbermaid in Jackson from 1983 to 2003. For 30 years, he and Saundra co-owned and operated The Flower and Garden Shop in Jackson, with Saundra's late brother, Scott Stearns.

Loving survivors include his wife of 52 years, Saundra Young of Jackson; a daughter, Donna Young of Fredericktown, Missouri; a granddaughter, Kaleigh Young of Jackson; a brother, Lane (Kathy) Young of Arab, Alabama; a sister, Louise Sebastian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd (Azalee) Young; and two sisters, Lorene (Leon) Burger and Lannis (Carroll) Cook.

The family appreciates the compassionate care Larry received from Saint Francis Hospice, and commend them for the super nice professionals on each team.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Phil Roop will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1855 Perryville Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701; or Saint Francis Hospice in Cape Girardeau.
