Larry Calvin Windeknecht, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1940, in Egypt Mills, to Norman Dunn and Lillian Windeknecht. He and Norma Swader were married Sept. 25, 1963, at Chicago.
He was a 1968 graduate of Sikeston (Missouri) Trade School.
He owned an upholstery business for more than 30 years. He also taught upholstery in St. Louis.
Survivors include his two daughters, Linda (Dennis Middleton) Crader of Cape Girardeau and Vicki (Clay) Phelps of Advance, Missouri; three sons, John (Laura) Windeknecht of Cape Girardeau, David (Tana) Windeknecht of Chaffee, Missouri, and Gene Windeknecht of St. Louis; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the proud great-grandfather of newborn twins, Noah and Jacob Phelps. Also left behind are his two feline companions, Chopper and Gigi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at McLain Chapel Cemetery in Oriole.
Memorial contributions may be given to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
