SIKESTON -- Larry E. Stewart, 54, of Sikeston died Monday, April 21, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 3, 1942, in Wabash, Ind., son of Perry E. and Geneva A. Ramer Stewart. He and Bonnie E. Brinkman were married Dec. 27, 1970, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Stewart received a bachelor of science degree in agri-business from Purdue University in 1964, was a captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and received a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Colorado in 1981.

He began working for Gates Rubber Co. in Denver, Colo., in 1970. He moved to Sikeston in 1981 and was human resources manager at Gates Rubber Co. in Charleston.

Stewart was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on the administrative council; was a member of Charleston Chamber of Commerce; member and past president of Sikeston Rotary Club, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Stewart of the University of Missouri-Columbia; a daughter, Anne Stewart of Drury College in Springfield; his father of Wabash; two sisters, Jeanette Ballentine of Denver, and Susan Floor of Roann, Ind.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Burial will be in Peoria Cemetery at Wabash.
