Larry H. McMackins, 47, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Feb. 7, 1954, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Howell H. and Imogene A. Cole McMackins. He and Margie Pool were married April 6, 1974, at St. Louis.
McMackins received his master's degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University and was an English instructor at Southeast for two years. He wrote poems, fiction and loved the arts. McMackins was a member of Cape Bible Chapel.
Survivors include his wife and mother; a son, Sean H. McMackins of Jackson, Mo.; three daughters, Olympia D. McMackins of Cape Girardeau and Ellsbeth B. and Molly J. McMackins, both of the home; and a sister, Kelli Stewart of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Hal Greene officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
