Larry D. Humphreys, 73, of Virginia Beach passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.

He was born June 27, 1940, at Zalma, Mo., to R.C. and Sadie Humphreys. He was the youngest of 13 children.

Larry graduated from Zalma High School.

He served 24 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a master chief.

Upon retirement from the military, he became a certified financial planner with Ameriprise Financial Corp. At the time of his death, Larry was an active member of the Church of Christ in Creeds, Va.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Humphreys; three children, Kevin Humphreys and wife Tammy, Timothy Humphreys and wife Teresa, and Kimberly McTyre and husband Bill; six grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Abbey, Alexandra, Haley and Casey; and four siblings, Rosetta Lingle, Charles Humphreys, Jean Duniphan and Ivan Humphreys.

Larry had many interests and loves in life ranging from golf to classic cars to spending time with his family on his beautiful farm in Back Bay, Va. He was truly cherished and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

The funeral was held Saturday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. Burial was in Princess Anne Memorial Park.
