Larry Wayne Huey, 76, of Scott City passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at his home, after battling Alzheimer's for eight years. He was born Aug. 18, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of Robert "Duck" and Etta Perry Huey. He and Sandra Dee Lafentres met at the age of 16. Three years later, they were united in marriage Jan. 5, 1963, at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. They moved to their forever home in Scott City in 1972...

Larry Wayne Huey, 76, of Scott City passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at his home, after battling Alzheimer's for eight years.

He was born Aug. 18, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of Robert "Duck" and Etta Perry Huey. He and Sandra Dee Lafentres met at the age of 16. Three years later, they were united in marriage Jan. 5, 1963, at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. They moved to their forever home in Scott City in 1972.

Larry worked for Cotton Belt Railroad and retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 39 years. He was a HAM radio enthusiast, enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife.

Larry was a kind, thoughtful person who was always there to help. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, who will never be forgotten.

Loving survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sandra Huey; children, David Huey and Wayne Huey, both of Scott City; grandchildren, Brent (Kristen) Huey of Rochester, New Hampshire, and Celina Walters of Sikeston, Missouri; great-grandchild, Connor Huey of New Hampshire; brother, Tim (Cindy) Huey of Jackson; and sisters, Ruth (David) McDowell of Altenburg, Missouri, and Linda (John) Barber of Brazeau, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be at a later date.

Liley Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
