JONESBORO, Ill. -- Larry Joe Abney, 58, of Putnam, Okla., died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Tuscola, Okla., son of Sherman L. and Elsie Viola Ford Abney. He and Vernita Pitts were married Feb. 5, 1967, in Tuscola...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Larry Joe Abney, 58, of Putnam, Okla., died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska.

He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Tuscola, Okla., son of Sherman L. and Elsie Viola Ford Abney. He and Vernita Pitts were married Feb. 5, 1967, in Tuscola.

Abney was a fieldman at a natural gas plant, and attended the Church of God.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patti Martin of Villa Grove; a son, Mike Abney of Villa Grove; a brother, Jerry Abney of Las Vegas; a sister, Janet Hart of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery.
