LANNES A. OAKES

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Lannes A. Oakes, 55, of Mounds, Ill., died Saturday, March 27, 1993, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 26, 1937, at Mounds, Ill., son of Wayne and Beatrice Griffith Oakes.

Oakes owned and operated a H&R Block business in Cairo, Ill.

He was a member of the Egyptian Country Club and Cairo Elks Lodge 651.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Oakes of Mounds, Ill.; three sons, David Oakes of Dixon, Ill., Tommy Oakes of Paducah, Ky., Larry Oakes of Cairo, Ill.; three sisters, Betty Falconite of Paducah, Ky., Martha Ledbetter of Ullin, Ill., Mary Vaughn of Mounds, Ill.; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill., with the Rev. Bill McGhee and the Rev. F.M. Speakman officiating.

Burial will follow in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Lannes Oakes.
