LaDonna M. "Marie" Gohn, 84, of Jackson passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1938, to Lawrence and Beulah Clingingsmith Dickerson. She was raised near Neely's Landing and graduated from Oak Hill School. She and Lloyd C. Gohn were married Dec. 18, 1954. Three children were born to their union, Debra Lynn, Terry and Mike. Marie and Lloyd had been married almost 35 years when he passed away Dec. 2, 1989.
Marie was a faithful, lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, serving many years as a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher and as the church secretary.
Both Marie and Lloyd worked at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau, and Marie also worked over 10 years as an Avon representative.
Marie always enjoyed being with her family, the "sister weekends," the Dickerson Thanksgivings, and league bowling at Jackson Lanes.
Loving survivors include a son, Michael (Dawn) Gohn of Bridgeton, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Jaci Gohn Shank and husband Jim of Jackson; five grandchildren, Adam (Shvetha) Gohn of Cape Girardeau, Eli Gohn of St. Louis, Caitlin (Chris) Brown and Derek (Alyssa) Gohn of Jackson and Mariah Kirby of Maryland Heights, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Levi, Ava, Jersey, Taysum, Corbin and Caysen; and four siblings, Eugene (Pat) Dickerson of Oswego, Kansas, Alma (the late Don) Slemmer of Ferguson, Missouri, Edna "Faye" (Jim) Carver of Farmington, Missouri, and Wanda (Phil) Gragg of Edina, Missouri; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret (the late Leon) Dickerson and Becky Dickerson Klob and husband Al of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Terry Gohn (March 26, 2016); an infant daughter, Debra, who died at birth (Nov. 21, 1955); three siblings, Louanna (Gordon) Kutcher, Leon Dickerson and Gary Dickerson; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Don Slatton will conduct the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Marie will be laid to rest next to Lloyd at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Jackson R2 Foundation for an athletic program of your choice.
