La Vonne Huter

Cora La Vonne Huter, 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Chateau Girardeau. She was born March 7, 1936, in Nampa, Idaho, daughter of Walter and Cora Bodenstein Huter.

Ms. Huter was a graduate of Jackson High School and received a B.S. in education from Southeast Missouri State University. She held a master's degree from the University of Missouri and completed postgraduate work at Indiana University. She taught eight years in the Festus, Missouri, area, 21 years at SEMO University High School and 21 years in the Harrison College of Business in Cape Girardeau. La Vonne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two brothers, Harold (Connie) Huter of Merced, California, and Larry Huter of Jackson; three nephews, Scott (Sherrie) Huter of Crowley, Texas, Jason (Amy) Huter of Berlin, New Hampshire, and David (Olivia) Huter of Austin, Texas; a niece, Cynthia (Johnny) Lema of Merced, California; and a special friend, Erica Camp of Jackson.

Also surviving are great-nieces and great-nephews, Rachel (Stuart) Carmody of Jackson, Mississippi, Jessica and Travis Lema of Merced, Cora Lynne and Aric Huter of Berlin and Charley Grace and Hank Huter of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Huter.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Eric Longman officiating.

Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
