MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Kline R. Smith, 82, of Marble Hill died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 28, 1918, near Bloomfield, Mo., son of Claud and Minnie Scism Smith. He and Dell Underwood Ward were married Dec. 24, 1959.
Smith was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was retired as owner of the Ward Cafe in Lutesville. Smith attended First Baptist Church in Marble Hill and was a member of VFW Post 5900.
Survivors include his wife; two nieces, Patsy Warren of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Mary Ann Bennett of St. Louis; and two nephews, Dan Curtis of Shreveport, La., and Sam Curtis of Hillsboro, Ill.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. Monday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Fred Ritter will officiate, with burial and full military rites by VFW Post 5900 and the Missouri Honor Team in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo.
