PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Kirby J. LaRose, 90, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Perryville, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Chestnut Terrace in St. Peters.
He was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Perry County, to Edward and Stella Whistler LaRose. He married Betty Jean Klobe on Jan. 14, 1950, in Claryville, Mo. She preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2000.
Kirby was an avionics technician at Sabreliner Corp., retiring in 1989. He and a brother, Valmer, owned and operated the Sinclair Service Station in Perryville, and he had also worked at Ford Garage in Perryville. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He served his country in the Merchant Marine and also in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include a son, Michael LaRose of St. Peters; three daughters, Sally Leiner of Imperial, Mo., Cynthia Hetzer of Defiance, Mo., and Lisa LaRose-Schrand of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military graveside honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Parish or charity of choice.
