Kinuko B. Gums, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Toyama-Ken, Japan, daughter of Katsuhide and Tsuya Kitaoka Bando. She and John R. Gums were married Nov. 23, 1973, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 1, 1994.
Kinuko graduated from high school and dress making school in Toyama-Ken and was a pilot. Kinuko came to the United States from Tokyo, Japan. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1973 and became a naturalized citizen in 1978.
She received an associate's degree in dental lab technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1980. She was a self-employed dental technician.
Survivors include her mother of Toyama-Ken; a stepson, John Gums of Purcellville, Va.; three brothers, Noduo Bando, Saburo Bando and Shiro Takumi of Toyama-Ken; a sister, Hideko Ueno of Kokubunji City, Tokyo; two stepgrandsons, Steven Gums of Leesburg, Va., Jeffrey Gums of Alexandria, Va.; and two great-stepgrandsons, Wesley and Alexander Gums of Leesburg.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
There is no visitation.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. John Rice officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
