JACKSON -- Kermit Gentry Nations Sr., 78, of Jackson died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1920, at St. Marys, son of Gentry and Stella Yamnitz Nations. He and Ruth Smith were married April 18, 1942. She died Oct. 1, 1987. He and Kathryn Sterling were married July 1, 1989.
Nations served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a mail carrier for the Jackson Post Office.
He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Altenthal-Joerns Post 158 of the American Legion and its honor guard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Nations of Jackson and Kermit Nations Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Cheryl Reinagel of Jackson; four stepdaughters, Teresa Arnold, Rhonda Johnson, Vickie Bollinger and Cheryl Smith, all of Jackson; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with an honor guard service at 7.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Jimmie Corbin will officiate, with burial in the Russell Heights Cemetery.
