Kenneth C. Werner, 83, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Clarence C. Werner and Maude B. Province.
He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1954. After graduation, he continued working in Werner Market, which was owned by his father and uncle.
In 1960, he enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and continued working and later was owner and manager of Werner Market until its official closing in October 1998.
Kenneth was a member of Abbey Road Christian Church. He was a lover of cats and an avid fisherman all of his life. He was a resident of Chateau Girardeau for seven years.
He was quiet but kind and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by both his parents.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elaine Schoepf officiating. Burial will be after the service at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
