Kenneth L. Rowley, 68, of Jackson passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 14, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., son of Roy Wilbur and Winnifred Opal Edwards. He and Dorothy Muster Crites were married Jan. 3, 1987, in Jackson.

Kenny was a graduate of Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Ill.

He was inducted into the United States Army on July 9, 1963, and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged July 25, 1966.

Kenny worked at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau from 1969 until retiring in 2000. He was a former member of St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit, where he served on the cemetery committee and various other committees. In 2006 he transferred membership to Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, where he was an usher and enjoyed working with the Men's Club at their pork sausage supper. He was a member of Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club 13 years, and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on the farm north of Whitewater.

Loving survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dorothy; a son, Kenny Rowley of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Julie (Dave) Dyer of Whitewater; a brother, James "Jim" (Susan) Rowley of Herrin, Ill.; three sisters, Janet (Dean) Golliher and Joanne (Jerry) Dillow of Anna, Ill., and Margie Brock of Goreville, Ill.; three stepgrandchildren, Jacob Dyer of St. Charles, Mo., Michaela and Daniel Dyer of Whitewater; a sister-in-law, Carolena Galloway of Cape Girardeau; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert R.F. Atkinson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or the church or charity of choice.
