Kenneth Kirk

Kenneth Lamoine Kirk, 76, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 11, 1933, in Rockwood, Ill., son of John L. and Emma Sauerhage Kirk. He and Ella Mae Korando were married Nov. 8, 1952, in Chester, Ill.

Kenny served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

He worked for Farm Fresh Dairy in Chester before going to work for Arkansas Best Freight (ABF) in Cape Girardeau in 1963. He and his family moved from Chester to Jackson in 1967, and in 1972 they moved to Oak Ridge. He retired from ABF in 1997 and enjoyed farming in Oak Ridge after retirement.

Kenny was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson since 1967 and Knights of Columbus Council 3rd Degree 6405 and Assembly 2099 4th Degree in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ella Mae; two daughters, Pamela (Alex) Harris and Kimberly (Lee) Powers; two grandsons, Raymond Kirk Powers and Ryan Benjamin Harris, all of Jackson; a brother, John (Jean) Kirk of Columbia, Ill.; and a sister, Mary Badgley of Potosi, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by the rosary led by Knights of Columbus.

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

The family suggests memorials be made either in the form of Masses, or donations to the American Parkinson's Disease Association or the charity of your choice.
