Kenneth Leo Compas, 76, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
Kenneth was born May 28, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Leo George and Rhoda Gladys Crump Compas. He was the first of three children. He and JoAnn Enderle Compas were married June 15, 1963, in New Hamburg, Missouri.
He graduated in 1955 from St. Mary Cathedral School, 1959 from Notre Dame Regional High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He retired from the Kroger Co. in 2003, where he served for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; a daughter, Michele (Theron) Rushing of Goreville, Illinois; three sons, Darrell (Lora) Compas of Elgin, South Carolina, Roger Compas of Johnston City, Illinois, and Craig (Bridgett) Compas of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Gerald (Linda) Compas of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Sydnee Rushing and Cole Rushing of Goreville, Dawson Compas and Kalie Compas of Cape Girardeau and Megan Compas of Elgin; and two stepgrandchildren, Gracen Tilton and Andrew Tilton of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vickie Jane Compas.
A time of visitation to honor the life of Kenneth Compas will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral Church in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Joseph Kelly will officiate, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
The family requests memorials be made to Notre Dame Regional High School or St. Mary's Cathedral Church.
