Kay Wolak, 57, of Jackson struggled with a complicated illness the past three years. She passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home.

She was born June 28, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Bob and Joan Proffer Scholz. She and Wayne J. Wolak were married July 21, 1979. 

Kay was a 1974 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked many years as a med-tech at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, Heartland Care and Rehab and the Community Counseling Center. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include her husband of 34 years, Wayne of Jackson; a daughter, Bobbi Bell of Fruitland; five grandchildren, Katie, Brooklyn, Autumn, Nolan and Gabby; her parents, Bob and Joan Scholz of Jackson; two siblings, Debbie (David) Nieder of Washington, Mo., and Randy Scholz of Jackson; a nephew, Kris Blanton and his son Logan Blanton of Washington; and mother-in-law, Lorene (the late Joe) Wolak of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jami Wolak; a brother, Joe Scholz; an uncle, Rick Proffer; paternal grandparents, William and Edith Scholz; and maternal grandparents, Bill and Alma Proffer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Deacon Walt Biri will lead parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to her family.
