Kathryn Virginia Sackman, 87, of Chateau Girardeau, died Tuesday, April 14, 1992, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born April 14, 1905, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John Theodore and Barbara Louisa Juden Sackman. Sackman was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University. Kathryn Virginia Sackman, 87, of Chateau Girardeau, died Tuesday, April 14, 1992, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born April 14, 1905, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John Theodore and Barbara Louisa Juden Sackman.

Sackman was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She did research at Columbia University in New York City and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and received a master's degree in education from Vanderbilt.

She taught at Matthews and Desloge and at Peabody College in Nashville. She then was an instructor in the education department at the University of Mississippi. While in Mississippi she also sold real estate and business insurance.

After returning to Cape Girardeau she became a member of Harp Insurance Agency. She also was chairman of the social science department and sponsor of Student Council at Central High school, until retiring.

Sackman was a member of National Honor Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Gamma Mu, Chapter BI of P.E.O., Mississippi State Teachers Association, National Teachers Association, Centenary United Methodist Church, and Business and Professional Women's Club of Mississippi.

Survivors include eight cousins.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lorimier Cemetery, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
