KIRKWOOD, Mo. -- Kathlyn M. Hahs, 94, formerly of Jackson and Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living in Kirkwood,
Born Sept. 28, 1923, in Millersville to Homer B. and Emily Lois Houk Hartle, she was the first of two daughters. Kathlyn and Archie M. Hahs were married Feb. 3, 1945, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They had been married 41 years when Archie passed away June 16, 1986.
Kathlyn attended grade school in Millersville and was a graduate of Jackson High School and Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri.
She worked in public accounting for many years and in the accounting area for Drury Cos. in Cape Girardeau.
Kathlyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kirkwood. She was a former member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Chapter D.J., and Eastern Star, all in Jackson.
Her favorite hobby was quilting. She felt blessed that she was able to make a quilt for each of her family members, and that she was able to quilt until she was well past the age of 90.
Loving survivors include her son, Milburn "Mel" (Nancy) Hahs of Kirkwood; two grandsons, Christopher W. (Rachel) Hahs and children, Lucille, Olivia and Naomi, all of Oak Park, Illinois, and Erik M. (Kristina) Hahs and son, Liam, of Pikeville, North Carolina; a sister, Betty (the late Bob) Goza of Jackson; and many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Emily Gillula officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
