DEXTER -- Funeral service for Katherine Whittley of Hillsboro will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Bob Holland will officiate, with burial in Tillman Cemetery near Advance.
Whittley, 85, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Crystal City.
She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Sikeston, daughter of Frank and May Bond Jordan. She and Elmer Whittley were married May 17, 1933, at Bloomfield. He died in July 1958.
Formerly of Circle City, Whittley moved to Hillsboro 18 years ago. She was a member of Circle City General Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Roy Whittley of Advance, Wayne Whittley of Hillsboro, Gerry Whittley of Essex, Delmar Whittley of Florissant; four daughters, Milidean Wallace of Hillsboro, Betty Meyers of Oak Ridge, Emma Lyles of Gray Summit, and Bonnie Kliner of Richwood.
Also surviving are three brothers, Clifton Jordan of Essex, Louis Jordan of West Plains, Glen Jordan of DeSoto; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters, and a brother.
