Karen E. Statler, 71, of Jackson, formerly of Sedgewickville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at her home.

She was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of W.L. "Wib" and Ruth Conrad Barks. She and Glenn Statler were married March 21, 1969, at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

Karen was a 1963 graduate of Patton (Missouri) High School. She worked at Mid-South Steel in Jackson and retired while working as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Jackson. Karen was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping and singing in the church choir.

Loving survivors include her husband of 47 years, Glenn Statler; a son, Jon Statler (friend, Amy Yount) of Advance, Missouri; two daughters, Allison (Keith) Shrum of Millersville and Kristen (Joe) Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brittany and Nathan Shrum and Josh M. Statler, and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Marie Taylor, expected to arrive in May; a sister, Tammy (Bobby) Kern of Jupiter, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Joy Engelhart of Jackson, Mary Statler of Pace, Florida, and Judith Statler of New London, Missouri; an aunt, Helen Hampton of Sedgewickville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gary Barks in 1997; and an infant sister, Kathleen Barks.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today in Chapel A at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. until the service time Friday at Sedgewickville United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs. Anthony Stewart and Roger Cary officiating. Interment will be in Sedgewickville Garden of Memories.
