ZALMA, Mo. -- Karen Lee Shirrell, 73, of Zalma, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Advance Nursing Center.
She was born Dec, 14, 1939, at Pontiac, Mich., daughter of Chester and Lottie Rogers Stotts.
Karen worked at Inland Shoe Factory in Advance; she later was a homemaker.
Karen and Ivan Shirrell were united in marriage in 1955 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1994.
Survivors include her mother, Lottie Meese of Lowndes, Mo.; a daughter, Ramona Younger of Gipsy, Mo.; two brothers, Larry Stotts and Jeff Rogers, both of Zalma; three sisters, Deb McCall of Sturdivant, Mo., Denise Cato of Zalma and Kim Beuhler of Gipsy; five grandchildren, Bruce Shirrell of Sturdivant, Heather Shirrell of Zalma, April Mayberry of Fletcher, Okla., Terri Harvell of Sturdivant and Chris Boyers of Puxico, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; two sons, Darrell and Wendell Shirrell; six brothers, Bruce, Keith, Kenny, Dwight, Alan and Dennis; and one sister, Joan.
Visitation will from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jack Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery near Gispy.
