On her 50th wedding anniversary, Karen Darlene McLane, 73, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, at the home of her daughter.
She was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Cape Girardeau to Charles and Gladys Baylor Scheper. She and Thomas “Bob” McLane were married May 24, 1969, at First Assembly of God Church in Cape Girardeau. Three children were born to their union: Chuck, Heath and Mary.
Karen was a 1963 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She worked for the former Metropolitan Life Insurance in Cape Girardeau prior to starting her family. After her daughter was in high school, she worked at Cape Blue Print in Cape Girardeau and Oak Ridge Market in Oak Ridge.
Karen was a member of the former Oak Ridge Methodist Church and had recently been attending New Salem Methodist Church in Daisy, and participating in its United Methodist Women’s Organization. She enjoyed scrapbooking and coloring with friends at the Jackson Senior Center and Cape Girardeau Public Library.
Loving survivors include her husband, Bob McLane of Oak Ridge; three children, Chuck McLane of Oak Ridge, Heath (Rebekah) McLane and children Kennett and Garrett of China Spring, Texas, and Mary Mason and children Hunter and Dylan of Oak Ridge; a brother, Gary Scheper of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law, Bill (Jean) McLane of Millersville; four nieces, Sara Turner of Jackson, Raegan Hinkle of Anna, Illinois, April Whiteside of Pocahontas and Jan Miller of Purcell, Oklahoma; a nephew, Chris McLane of Daisy; and her former sister-in-law, Barb Scheper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kennett and Elois McLane.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Koerner officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Daisy.
