Karen Sue Herron, 49, of Cambria, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.
She was born March 2, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Alvin and Helen M. Mehner Bertrand. She married Bill Herron.
Herron had worked 23 years for Kroger, most recently at the Marion store. She served as steward of the executive board of Local 881 of United Food and Commercial Workers for 10 years.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Laura Costello of Cambria, Kay Bernard of Goreville, Ill., Elizabeth Herron of West Frankfort, Ill., Tina Thomas of Elkville, Ill.; three sons, Kevin Herron of Orlando, Fla., Thomas Herron of Sheridan, Ind., George Herron of Thompsonville, Ill.; her mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Larry Bertrand of Scott City; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter, and a stepson.
Friends may call at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, Ill., after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Robert Chitwood and Joe Hamon officiating. Burial will be in Boskydell Cemetery.
