SIKESTON, Mo. -- Graveside service for James William "J.W." Sherwood of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Matthews Cemetery. The Rev. Charles H. Pipkins will officiate.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Sherwood, 63, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born July 13, 1938, in Sikeston, son of James "Ode" and Mamie Robinson Sherwood. He and Judy Bridges were married March 11, 1981, in East Prairie, Mo.
Sherwood had worked for Parker Brothers Farms and Kesler Farms.
He served in the Missouri National Guard nine years.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Brian Turner of Essex, Mo., Michael Turner of Sikeston, Tom Sherwood of New Franklin, Mo., Paul and Steve Sherwood of Hinesville, Ga., Elvis Sherwood of Paradise, Calif.; three daughters, Laurie Johnson of Glasgow, Mo., Mary Buchanan of Flaherty, Ky., Katherine Sherwood of Paradise, Calif.; and 23 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
