ESSEX -- J.W. Sandage, 70, of Essex, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1993, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1923, at Steele, son of Guy Overton and True Robinson Sandage. He and Rosella Hicks were married Dec. 26, 1946, at Gray Ridge.

Sandage was a retired welder. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Harold, James and Melvin Sandage of Rogers, Ark., Richard Sandage of Essex; four daughters, Diana Keller and Rosemarie Fisher of Alton, Patsy Haluck and Joanna Hicks of Collinsville; a brother, Larry Sandage of Dexter; two sisters, Betty Latham of St. Charles, Kathryn Cox of Dexter, and 15 grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Bloomfield Cemetery.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield after noon today.
