JACKSON -- June U. Crites, 67, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 28, 1930, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Frank and Frieda Strong Unnerstall.
She married John C. Crites Aug. 27, 1950. He survives.
She was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia after attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She majored in English and history and worked as a substitute teacher in the Jackson junior and senior high schools for several years. She also worked in her father's drugstore on Good Hope in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the PEO, Chapter DJ, in Jackson, attended New McKendree United Methodist Church, and was a longtime member of the Wesleyan Circle, Wednesday Bridge Club and American Association of University Women. She was a member of the Cape Girardeau County Democratic Women.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marci McMahan of Hattiesburg, Miss., Sally Finch of Cape Girardeau, a brother, Sam Unnerstall of Cape Girardeau, and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. O. David Griffin officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
