Juline M. Windisch Cheek, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Otto Henry and Violet Marguerite Maloy Windisch. She and Aubrey Roy Cheek were married Oct. 23, 1954, in Smithville, Texas.

Juline graduated from Smithville High School. She received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Women's University in Denton, and master's degrees in language and arts. The first master's was from East Texas University and the second master's from Webster University in St. Louis. She also took courses at Washington University, University of Missouri, Harris Teachers College and Southeast Missouri State University.

Juline had a teaching career of 32 years in Texas and Missouri before retiring from Lindbergh School District in St. Louis in about 1978.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, White Shrine of Jerusalem, past worthy priestess, Amaranth, True Kindred, and Eastern Star. Juline was also a member of National Education Association, Missouri National Education Association, Lindburgh Retired Educators, Missouri State Teachers Association, and Missouri Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a number of cousins, including Esther M. Gray and Ranata Windisch of Cape Girardeau, who cared for her many years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Henry Windisch; parents, D.A. and Violet Tunstall; and her husband.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to service time Sunday.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Gary, Sean, Brian and Joseph Gray, Chad Windisch, and Quentin Gaither.
