FARRAR, Mo. -- Julie Ann Abernathy, 58, of Farrar passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 6, 1962, in Great Bend, Kansas, to John and June Simon McLain. June survives in Council Grove, Kansas. She and the Rev. Roger Abernathy were married Feb. 28, 1981, in Grace Lutheran Church in Midland, Texas. He survives in Farrar.
Julie Ann was an associate manager at Pizza Inn in Fruitland. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. Julie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four sons, John (Alexandra) Abernathy of Farrar, Joshua (Sarah) Abernathy of Jackson, Nathan (Ginny) Abernathy of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia and Caleb (Alexandria) Abernathy of Jackson; daughter, Sarah Lawrence of Hillsboro, Missouri; brother, Jim (Christine) McLain of Council Grove; sister, Janet (Teddy) Buchman of Gillette, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Lillian, Grace, Vivian, Samuel, Amelia, Holden and Elias, and two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville, Missouri.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating and liturgist the Rev. Michael Kettner. Burial will be at Point Rest Cemetery in Crosstown, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown or Calvary Lutheran Church in Council Grove.
