Julia Mildred Herbert, 94, of Jackson died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 2, 1912, in Doniphan, Mo., daughter of Elisha Alonzo and Effie Jane Ash Highfill. She first married Floyd Roberts in 1931; married Virgil Payne March 5, 1933, who died in July 1962; and married Joseph Herbert Aug. 5, 1965, who died in November 1988...

Julia Mildred Herbert, 94, of Jackson died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 2, 1912, in Doniphan, Mo., daughter of Elisha Alonzo and Effie Jane Ash Highfill. She first married Floyd Roberts in 1931; married Virgil Payne March 5, 1933, who died in July 1962; and married Joseph Herbert Aug. 5, 1965, who died in November 1988.

Mrs. Herbert was a homemaker and member of Union Light Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Lonzo Junior (Carol) Roberts of Imperial, Mo.; a daughter, Margie (Larry) Beakley of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Glenna (Richard) Norris of Vichy, Mo., Suzie (Robert) Lukefahr of Jackson, Connie (Roger) Dailey of Sedgewickville, Mo., Dena (Joseph) Irons of Taftville, Conn., Ryan (Lynn) Bird of Chesterfield, Mo., Janel (Rob) Pendegraft of Arnold, Mo., Cindy (Raul) Pingle, Nancy Roberts and David Roberts, all of Granite City, Ill., Michael (Linda) Roberts of Warrenton, Mo.; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty June Payne, and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Light Congregational Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donald Sander and the Rev. David McCutcheon officiating. Burial will be in Union Light Cemetery near Marquand.
