DEXTER -- Funeral service for Julia Denkins of Dexter will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. Ken Martin will officiate, with burial in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.

Denkins, 84, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 24, 1912, in Zadock, daughter of Daniel Green and Mary Ollie Adeline Marce Menley. She and William Cletus Denkins were married Jan. 19, 1932. He died Nov. 4, 1973.

Denkins had lived at Dexter since 1940. She and her husband owned and operated Cletus' Radio and TV Hospital many years.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Denkins of Puxico, Ted Denkins of Dexter, David Denkins of Bloomfield; two daughters, Betty Acton of Dexter, Wilena Thompkins of Wappapello; a sister, Ollie Hobbs of Dexter; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.
