Julia Ann "Judy" Thompson Litzelfelner, 89, a lifelong resident of Jackson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Fruitland to Sylvester and Anna McDonald Thompson.

Judy was a graduate of Jackson High School.

She and Jack Litzelfelner Sr. were married in 1953 at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. They were married for 63 years before his passing June 5, 2017.

She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife and mother. After her children were raised, Judy took up painting and became a talented, skilled artist.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, where she volunteered. She also volunteered at Girl Scouts and Cape Girardeau County History Center in Jackson.

Judy moved from her family home on Ridge Road in Jackson to Villas of Jackson shortly after her husband, Jack, died. She loved her life at Villas from 2017 to 2023. She spent her last four months at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where she was quickly loved by residents and staff.

She is remembered for her everlasting beauty, style, grace, dignity, kindness and commitment to others.

Survivors include three sons, Jack (Felicia) Litzelfelner Jr. of Fairfield, California, and Mike (Carrie) Litzelfelner and Rob (Michele) Litzelfelner, both of Jackson; two daughters, Pat Litzelfelner of Richmond, Kentucky, and Deb Litzelfelner of Jackson; brother, Jim (Jodi) Thompson of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A private service will be held Friday, Jan. 12, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson, with Mike Litzelfelner officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Lutheran Home Activity Center.
