Judy Ann Abernathy, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 7, 2017, at her home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1954, in Fredericktown, Missouri, to Reuben and Ruby Magdelene Rehkop Fulbright. She and Wayne Abernathy were married May 10, 1969, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2007.

Judy Ann loved all her family very much, including her second son, Winston. Her pride and joy was her great-granddaughter, Caydence Nicole Abernathy.

She was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Ruby Magdelene Rehkop Fulbright of Fredericktown; son, Travis (Sheila) Abernathy of Friedheim; brothers, Jim Dees of Fredericktown, Joe (Kathy) Dees of Glenallen, Missouri, and Chuck (Karen) Martin of Fruitland; sisters, Martha (Rick) Tongate of Nashville, Illinois, and Vickie (Dan) Buttry of Waco, Texas; grandchild, Sierra Nicole Abernathy; and great-granddaughter, Caydence Nicole Abernathy.

She was preceded in death by her father; husband; brother, Jerry Dees; sister, Janey Baker; and grandchild, Ethan Abernathy.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brad Baker officiating. Burial will be at Peterman Dees Cemetery near Fredericktown.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
