Juanita Lorene Slinkard, 90, formerly of Scott City, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006, at Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb, Ill., where she had resided since May 1999.
She was born April 16, 1915, at Diehlstadt, Mo., to William Harvey and Stella May Jennings Griffith. She married Ora A. Slinkard Aug. 13, 1932.
She was a seamstress in her early years, and enjoyed reading and quilting.
She is survived by three sons, Eugene (Carol) Slinkard of Florissant, Mo., Ray (Beverly) Slinkard of DeKalb, Ill., Darrel (Margaret) Slinkard of Fort Worth, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Larry, Wayne and Karen Slinkard, Rita Kendall, Linda Tatro Tingling, Sherry, Michelle and Danny Slinkard, Bob and Terry Sebastion, Larry Berry Jr., Wade, Wesley and Cody Slinkard; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 8, 1965; her parents; a daughter, Violet Lee Berry Oct. 10, 2002; infant granddaughter, Edie Lorene Slinkard; sisters, Helen Tharp, Freda Oliver and Maxine Hawn.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Cliff Day officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
