Juanita Rutledge, 79, of Phenix City, Ala., died Sunday, May 26, 1996, at Exodus in Columbus, Ga.
She was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Salem, Ala., daughter of Lee and Irene Wilson Davis. She first married the Rev. William Henry Coar in 1935. He died in 1970. She and Dock Rutledge were married in 1977.
Rutledge retired from the sewing department of Opelika-Phenix Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Nichols Chapel AME Church in Phenix City.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bernice Sterling; two stepsons, Clifford and Rudolph Rutledge; a stepdaughter, Margaret Rutledge; two brothers, McLain Davis Sr. of Columbus, Ohio, Warren Davis Sr. of Lancaster, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a stepgrandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, sister and two brothers.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Nichols Chapel Church, with Pastor Rouse officiating.
Edgar H. Battle Funeral Home in Phenix City is in charge of arrangements.
