Juanita Marie Moore, age 95, of Kelso, Mo., died Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 26, 1914, in Cairo, Ill., to William Oscar and Jessie Marie Phelps Holderfield. She and Robert Cleo Moore of Mounds, Ill., were married Sept. 15, 1934, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died Dec. 16, 1954.
Juanita lived most of her life in Cairo, where she was a member of the Tigert Memorial Church. She graduated from Cairo High School in the class of 1933. Juanita became a licensed practical nurse and worked many years at the Southern Seven Health Department in Cairo, until her retirement in 1985.
In 1995 Juanita moved to Kelso to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Troy Wilburn. After moving to Missouri she became an active member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City and performed many hours of volunteer service with the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Tonita and her husband, Troy Wilburn, of Kelso; Rita and her husband, Billy Mangrum, of Gordonville, Texas; Karen and her husband, William Griffith, of Chaffee, Mo.; a son, Robert Moore and his wife, Loretta, of Gainesville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her two sisters, Minnie Zang and Helen Yoakum, as well as her two brothers, Charles and Raymond Holderfield.
A special thanks goes to Juanita's niece and her niece's husband, doctors Mona and Bill Wooten of Evansville, Ind. Mona is the daughter of Juanita's deceased sister, Minnie Zang.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. James E. Norris officiating. Graveside services will be at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill., at a later date.
