J.T. Whitesides, 98, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, April 27, 2007. He was born Oct. 14, 1908, in Boone County, Mo., to William Velpo and Lila Dinkle Whitesides. He and Mary Frances Mitchell were married Jan. 17, 1931. She died May 20, 1977. Whitesides was a retired accountant for City Bus Lines in Columbia, Mo., and Hathman Construction Co. in Columbia, Mo. Survivors include a son, Dean Whitesides of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Mo. The Rev. Jim Cooper will officiate.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of the arrangements.
