MARBLE HILL, Mo. — Joyce King Tilley of Nixa, Missouri, formerly of Glen Allen, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Sept 22, 2020, at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri.
Joyce was born July 5, 1944, in St. Louis to the late Clyde and Alidene Weston King. She was united in marriage to Jimmie E. Tilley on July 9, 1962, and they enjoyed 58 years together. They enjoyed years of travel with the military and were able to see much of the world together. To this marriage were born their three girls, who survive: Cyndi (James) Chronister, of Perrryville, Missouri, Marcia (Tim) Sitze of Glen Allen and Connie (Dan) Simmons of Nixa.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Corey and Adam Sitze, Thomas Marks and Shaelyn, Mason and Delaney Simmons. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Isiah and Carson Sitze and Maggie and Ella Marks. Her brother, Jerry (Carol) King of Cedar Hill, Missouri, also survives, along with many nieces and nephews.
Since 1975, Joyce was a resident of Glen Allen, but relocated to Nixa in 2019. She was a positive and joyful light to many, always quick to offer a hug, a smile, and share her contagious laugh. She loved to cook, entertain and share her talent of painting with others. Joyce worked as both a beautician and secretary before fulfilling her most prized work as a homemaker. She had such a strong connection to her Lord and truly looked forward to Heaven, often talking about how wonderful that homecoming would be. Her presence will be greatly missed, but we celebrate her presence with her Lord and Savior forever.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Phillip, Charles and Larry King; stepson, Jimmie Edward Tilley Jr.; and grandson, Caden Simmons.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Shepherd Hill Cemetery near Barnhart, Missouri.
