Joyce Eileen Smith, daughter of the late Claude Sullinger and MaudeLou Tidwell Sullinger was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Cape Girardeau County and departed her life Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the Chaffee Nursing Center at the age of 87 years.
She was a member of Chaffee Church of God for more than 50 years, former certified nursing assistant for V.N.A. for 20 years, and a resident of Delta.
On Nov. 27, 1993, she was united in marriage to Garry Dean Smith. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2021.
Survivors include one son, Kevin (Brenda Kiefer) Miller of Chaffee; three daughters, Sheila (Gary) Gilmer of Devine, Texas, Darlene (Gary) Kelley of Delta and Connie (Jim) Smith of Meadowbrook, Illinois; one stepdaughter, Cindy (Albert) Sadler of Jackson; one brother, Cletus Sullinger of Nevada; four sisters, Doris White and Lois Cook, both of Chaffee, Genevia Brown and Karen Buchheit, both of Marble Hill; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter at infancy; one brother, Norman Sullinger; and one sister, Ester Morris.
Gravesides service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Fairview Cemetery near Arbor with Minister Cindy Sadler officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be Gabe Miller, Brennan Miller, Gary Kelley, Gary Kelley II, James Smith and William Smith.
