Joyce Beatty Omohundro, 81, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at Audrain County Hospital.

She was born Sept. 29, 1930, in West Portal, N.J., daughter of Thomas and Myrtle Sexton Beatty. She and Thomas Jackson Omohundro Sr. were married July 11, 1948, in West Portal.

She and her husband ran a private large- and small-animal veterinary practice in Vandalia, Mo., 20 years before moving to Jackson in 1971.

Loving survivors include her three children, Dr. Richard Omohundro and his wife Kathy of Fulton, Mo., Susan Omohundro-Wood of Thomasville, Ga., Jody Omohundro Petzoldt and her husband Roger of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Teri Omohundro of Wildwood, Mo.; two sisters, Carole Conyers and Colleen Brunsvold; and grandchildren, Emily and Molly Omohundro, Jordan, Grant and Madison Omohundro, Jonathan Wood and Michael Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. T.J. Omohundro; her beloved son, Thomas Jackson Omohundro Jr.; sister, Betty Conley; and her parents.

A private family service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery in Wildwood, Mo., at a later date.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Jackson City Park Foundation.
