Born on Jan. 25, 1937, in Bessville, she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Myrtle Irene Upchurch Dowd. On Feb. 14, 1953, she married James "Bill" Lee Long in Lutesville, Missouri. BESSVILLE, Mo. -- Joyce Marilyn Long, 81, of Bessville passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at Woodland Hills in Marble Hill, Missouri.

Born on Jan. 25, 1937, in Bessville, she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Myrtle Irene Upchurch Dowd. On Feb. 14, 1953, she married James "Bill" Lee Long in Lutesville, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

She retired from Henschel Manufacturing as a cap inspector, along with operating her family's cattle farm.

She was a member of Old Union Methodist Church.

She is survived by four sons, John Long, Robert Long, Tim Long and Adam Long, all of Bessville; two daughters, Barbara Hutson and Brenda Jordan, both of Marble Hill; two sisters, Juanita Parsons of Bessville and Wilma Brewington of Fredericktown, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Jansen; a son, James Paul Long; two brothers, Dale and Jerry Dowd; and two half brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Old Union Church near Bessville. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery.
