Joyce Hale

Joyce E. Schemel Hale, 62, of Ava, Ill., formerly of Thebes, Ill., passed away at 2:45 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Ill.

Joyce was born Aug. 15, 1950, at Muskogee, Okla., daughter of the late Lloyd Edward Schemel and Anna Mary Hafley Schemel.

Joyce was a homemaker.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hale-Osorio on May 28, 2013; and two brothers, Daniel and Gary Schemel.

Survivors include three daughters, Ellen (Roger) Dodson of Thebes, Mary (Russell) Renshaw of Gale, Ill., and Rita (Mike) Imparato of Thebes; a son, Larry (Robin) Hale Jr. of McClure, Ill.; a brother, Randy Schemel of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Barbara Blackler of Hannibal, Mo., and Donna Bailey of Willisville, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Raymond McAfee and the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
