Joshua B. Johnson, 22, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at his home.
He was born April 18, 1997, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Kenneth Ray and Sarah Lynn Conn Johnson.
Joshua was a 2016 graduate of Joplin (Missouri) High School, where he was active in ROTC. He was a member of the Joplin High School weight-lifting team, where he was a power lifter. He attended Drury University.
Joshua was a patriot. His lifelong dream was to serve his country, as either a member of the armed forces or as a member of the police force.
He worked at Freeman Hospital and Communities of Wildwood in Joplin. He has been in the Cape Girardeau area for about a year, having moved from Ava, Missouri.
Joshua always had a smile. He wanted to help people. He never met a stranger.
Survivors include his mother, Sarah (Brian Brown) Johnson of Cape Girardeau; father, Kenneth (Sherri) Johnson of Pinckneyville, Illinois; two brothers, Garrett Michael and Wyatt Thomas Johnson of Pinckneyville; stepsister, Tyler Ann Flowers of Pinckneyville; aunts, Julie Conn of Atlanta, Karla (Kevin) DeZorzi of Prescott, Arizona, and Karen (Kurt) Brown and Sherry Robinson, both of Pinckneyville; uncles, Darian Johnson and Tommy (Lori) Johnson, both of Pinckneyville; stepgrandmother, Faye Conn of Ava; and grandfather, Thomas (Karla) Johnson Jr. of Pinckneyville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and LaDonna Conn and Mary Sue Johnson; aunt, Alison Beller; and cousin, Lauren DeZorzi.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Tracy Rowe officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Multiple Sclerosis Society or Epilepsy Foundation.
