Joseph "Joe" Walker, 80, 2034 Montgomery, died Tuesday, May 18, 1993, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1912, at Neelys Landing, son of Charles David and Stella Unger Walker. He and Thelma Virginia Barnett were married Sept. 20, 1941, in Cape Girardeau. She died May 1, 1989.
Walker had worked for Burton Gerhardt Construction; Steinhoff, Kirkwood and Joiner Construction, and retired in 1978 as foreman with Penzel Construction.
He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church and VFW Post 3838. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Walker of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Janet Walker of Cape Girardeau, Pat Parsons of Jackson; a brother, William Walker of Jackson; a sister, Lillian Strong of Cape Girardeau, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and brother.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Revs. Cy Smith and Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
